Dave Sifry used the term "live web" in his latest "State of" -- which he is now calling State of the Live Web, instead of State of the Blogosphere (that word!!!). In his post, he links to a post by Doc Searls on the Linux Journal dated September 16, 2005 titled, "Searching the World Live Web". It was written in response to Google Blog Search.

Searls says the distinction between the World Wide Web and the World Live Web is that the Live Web is syndicated: "every time something is posted or updated, a notification goes out, informing the world about it".

There's more to it.

Of course, I say all of this to you as if it offers some kind of explanation.

But it doesn't.

Consider it a history lesson.
