Interesting article in today's Washington Post about the effort to unionize Walmart by the United Food and Commercial Workers. Their efforts are led by some campaign veterans (all in their 20's- yeesh) who are using more Web tactics to build momentum on the national level.
The site Wake Up Wal-Mart has a blog and is actively subscribing interested citizens to act locally. I had not heard about these guys before now even though I live next door to Susan Phillips who heads up the Coalition of Labor Union Women. But that is probably because there is no Wal-Mart near me. These political campaign folks are generally very targeted.
Can this type of effort really gain enough national momentum?
